CGSP - Types of Certifications

Welcome to the Next Standard of Canadian Sustainability.

There are three levels of certification through the Canadian Green Sustainability Program (CGSP):

  • Expert Sustainability Professional - this classification is earned by a Distributor or Manufacturer who must also be a member of the Canadian Sanitation Supply Association

  • Certified Green Sustainability Manager – this classification is earned by a Building Owner or Facility Manager

  • Certified Green Sustainability Contractor - this classification is earned by a Building Service Contractor or an In-house Service Provider

Expert Sustainability Professional (ESP):

Through the Canadian Green Sustainability Program, Distributors and Manufacturers have an opportunity to earn their accreditation in the program, by becoming an ESP. Each ESP has taken the course and passed the exam. Their credential as an ESP recognizes their qualification to train Building Service Contractors and In-house Service Providers who are looking to become Certified Green Sustainability Contractors.

ESPs receive training in the following areas:
  • The benefits of all types of certification through the program
  • LEED and BOMA BESt program
  • Indoor Air Quality
  • Product and Procedures
  • Waste Management
  • Green Policies
  • Site Certification
  • Site Auditing
Upon successfully passing the exam, an ESP will receive from Franken LeDrew Consulting, a certificate validating their certified status, a copy of the Power Point training they received, a copy of the CGSC Power Point (used for training CGSCs) and a binder, which contains program support material.

Certified Green Sustainability Manager (CGSM)

Through the Canadian Green Sustainability Program, Building Owners/Managers have an opportunity to earn their accreditation in the program, by becoming a Certified Green Sustainability Manager. Trained by a Facilitator, the CGSM credential recognizes their qualification to develop integrative, sustainable solutions, designed to enhance the environmental stewardship, social responsibility and economic prosperity, within their organization.
CGSMs receive training in the following areas:

Certified Green Sustainability Contractor (CGSC)

Contractors are trained by the ESP to eliminate or reduce the use of harmful, VOC laden toxic cleaning products. Instead, preference is given to environmental preferable products that meet standards established by EcoLogo or Green Seal.

CGSCs receive training in the following areas:

  • Use of Green chemical concentrates and dilution systems
  • Use of floor finishes that are free of heavy metals and other hazardous ingredients
  • Use of low maintenance floor care programs that minimize VOCs and stripping cycles
  • Alternatives to aerosols

  • Use of recycling programs
Upon successfully passing the exam, a CGSC will receive from Franken LeDrew Consulting, a certificate validating their certified status and a copy of the Power Point training they received.

It’s the CSSA’s ongoing commitment to continuously revolutionize the CGSP, thereby improving the environment and the quality of life of all Canadians.
